2007 MNSE Summer Picnic

With the success of the 2006 Summer Picnic it was decided that a 2nd Annual or 1st Annual, depending on how you look at it, would be held.  The date chosen for the 2007 MNSE Picnic was Saturday July 14, 2007.  Again this year MNSE member's Tom and Chris Plichta graciously opened up there beautiful home on Pewaukee Lake as the venue for the picnic.  With several new members in the MNSE club since last year's picnic it would be a great chance for members and spouses to get reaquainted.

The day dawned a bit wet.  But that was forecasted.  By 10am the skies were clearing, a pretty breeze was blowing(besides all the hot air that would be genereated at the picnic)and things were looking great.  With temps in the 70's and the breeze it was a great day to be on the lake.  Again with a 1pm start people began arriving around then with their "dish to pass".  Again cheese, sausage, veggie tray, homemade pickles, Mango salsa and the like were put out for people to snack on while waiting for the main course a bit later in the day.

With the weather a bit cooler that last year the bocci ball competition became a larger ordeal.  More teams meant more fun with the bocci ball court where one must "play the break" to get the advantage.  Plus this year was added the "Ladies" division.  Four of the ladies in attendance came down to the court and played an excellent game of bocci.  When all was said and done 16 people in attendance took part in the now famous MNSE Bocci Ball Championship.

After the rigors of the competition came the rewards of the day.  Hamburgers, Brats and Hot Dogs fresh off the grill.  Along with baked beans, Tater Tot casserole chips, homemade cole slaw plus much more was again put out for people to take part in.  Everyone thought they had their fill of food when it came time for dessert.  There were chocolate covered strawberries, cheesecake, cookies and coffee if desired.

25 Members, Spouses and Guests were in attendance.  The weather was GREAT, the fellowship was GREAT, and the food was ABUNDANT and GREAT.  Plans are already in the making for the 2008 MNSE Summer Picnic.

All in attendance at 2007 MNSE Picnic

Again HUGE THANK YOU to Tom and Chris Plichta for allowing this group to invade their home for another year.  Dan T and Keith S did the shopping on Friday night for the feast.  Also to all those that made the wonderful food brought from home. Plus those who maybe didn't have time to cook but still brought some delicious items to share with the rest.
